The Bird of 2023
Drum roll please! Ahem. I said drum roll...!
Thank you everyone for your votes! As we bring this inaugural year of Bird of the Month Club to a happy conclusion, I am pleased to announce the Bird of 2023 is the bird who dominated the month of June by dazzling us with its dance-like movements through wild grasses and by captivating us with its quirky orange eye combs:
The Greater Prairie-Chicken!!!
To be fair to our voters, we shall give the runners-up some attention too. So:
… coming in second place, the much-loved
Horned Grebe!
…and finally, an honorable mention goes to the always-charming
White-Breasted Nuthatch!
